And we are helping financially to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Babies (NICU) – Low birth weight. Those families who are low-income people in our country.
Aradhya Foundation initially started to support Government hospitals in Solapur, Maharashtra. Most are in public hospitals and serve low-income populations. Aradhya Foundation has grown by increasing its depth in each Talukas for that helping to low- income family who’s suffering with low birthweight babies or who are not able to give them proper treatment due to financial condition.
Objective & Mission
- Aradhya Foundation’s started in 2018 with primary objective is to reduce low-birth-weight deliveries in India and support underweight children aged 0-2 years from BPL categories by providing proper medical facilities and nutrition. The foundation assists families with financial expenses for a child’s first 1,000 days.
- Additionally, from 2024 onwards the organization is dedicated to raising awareness in communities through training on Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC), antenatal care (ANC) and postnatal care (PNC), It promotes the initiation of exclusive breastfeeding within one hour of birth, contributing to the healthy growth and development of children.
- The foundation also focuses on improving health conditions in rural areas, particularly for pregnant women and adolescent girls.
Our Programmes
- Antenatal care (ANC) coverage is an indicator of access and use of health care during pregnancy.
- The antenatal period presents opportunities for reaching pregnant women with interventions that may be vital to their health and wellbeing and that of their infants..
- Care of the mother and the newborn till six weeks after delivery.
- To Prevent postpartum complications
- To Provide care for rapid restoration of mother to optimum health.
To check adequacy of breastfeeding - To provide basic health education.
- KMC is particularly crucial for premature or low-birth-weight infants, but it can benefit all newborns. By placing the baby upright on the mother’s or father chest, with their skin touching, KMC recreates the womb’s warm and comforting environment. be they in hospitals or at home. Baby to be kept in warmer/ incubator only when KMC is not possible
- KMC facilitates early and exclusive breastfeeding. The proximity to the mother’s breast encourages the baby to latch on effectively, leading to increased milk production and successful breastfeeding initiation. Breast milk provides vital nutrients, antibodies, and immune factors essential for the baby’s health.
- Increase vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and dairy
& obtain for protein-rich foods, such as lean meat, eggs, dairy, beans, lentils and seafood low in mercury. Choose a variety of whole grains as well as fruits and vegetables. Eating a variety of foods while breastfeeding will change the flavor of your breast milk.

Background of Aradhya Foundation
The idea came to us in a meaningful way through our own experience when we became the proud parents of our daughter. The day I held my child in my arms, I felt complete; the whole world’s happiness filled my palms as I held my daughter. As the saying goes, every second of our life teaches us a lesson, and this experience was no different. Our daughter was a miracle for us. After a nine-month journey in her mother’s womb, she entered the world weighing only 1.3 kg, medically termed as a Low Birth Weight (LBW) baby. Following the doctors’ instructions, she was immediately transferred to another hospital and kept in the NICU for about 30 days.
I can’t even imagine how I stood through it all; it was a mix of happiness and anxiety. A few days passed, and when my daughter responded to the medicine, I felt relieved. I then took the time to look around and saw many other families in similar situations. Living on a middle-class income, we managed to meet our expenses, but other families struggled. Many had to take their babies home before completing treatment due to financial constraints. Interacting with them made me realize how difficult it is for families below the poverty line. They come from remote areas where medical facilities are underdeveloped, leading to malnourished mothers and children. They sell everything they have for their children’s well-being.
At that moment, I realized I needed to do something for my society, which had given me so much. The root cause of inadequate medical facilities for mothers and children needed to be addressed. Our initiative focuses on providing not only medicine but also nutritional support, KMC training, and development for the care of both mother and child. We also aim to help meet financial expenses to ensure a healthy and prosperous nation. As the saying goes, “Health is Wealth.”

Our main goal is to fulfill the basic needs of the Below Poverty Line (BPL) community by providing proper medical facilities and nutritious food to help them bear their financial expenses during the child’s first 1,000 days of life. Our first initiative was undertaken in the Solapur district of Maharashtra, where we provided financial assistance to NICU babies’ families from low-income backgrounds.
